In 2000, Hisun Group established cooperative relations with Changchun Institute of Applied Chemicals (CIAC), jointly developing Polylactide Resin as general-purpose plastics.
In 2001, laboratory research on PLA was accomplished, and was appraised by experts from Jilin Provincial Bureau of Science and Technology.
In Dec.2002, Hisun group, together with CIAC, accomplished 10 liter PLA laboratory level test, and relative results were appraised by experts of Zhejiang Provincial Bureau of Science and Technology, who confirmed that the project of PLA took the lead in the country, filled domestic blank, and reached same level of similar products abroad.
On Aug.26, 2004, Zhejiang Hisun Biomaterials Co., Ltd. was established.
In 2004, a PLA production line of 30 tons/year successfully established and operated in good condition. Hisun Biomaterials began to provide small amount of PLA resin for enterprises, universities and institutes at home and abroad.
In Dec. 2004, Hisun Biomaterials, together with some partners, jointly established Taizhou Plastics Institute, engaged in research of modification of the biodegradable materials as well as manufacturing of derivative products, mainly PLA.
On Dec. 9th, 2004,Hisun’s project of Research on the Key Technology of Industrialization of Biodegradable PLA Plastics was listed as an Annual Key Technological Breakthrough Project by Zhejiang Provincial Science and Technology Bureau.
On Jul. 5, 2005, Hisun’s project- Research on Key Technology of 5000ton/year PLA Resin and Derivative Products was listed as State’s Key Technological Breakthrough Project.
On Jul. 19, 2005, The project “Research, Development, and Industrialization of Degradable Material PLA” was listed by the Zhejiang Working Team on Establishing Advanced Manufacturing Base as one of key projects of 2005 which needed joint breakthrough and support, among which, there are 8 special projects and 38 key projects totally.
In Oct. 2006, the 5000ton/year PLA project was listed by the State as a model project for high-tech industrialization of bio-material engineering.
In Nov.2006, the 5000ton/year PLA production line was formally in operation, which was State’s first production line with our own intellectual property, and a zero breakthrough.
In Jul. 2007, the 5000ton/year PLA production line operated stably, and products were initially divided into two grades: Grade for injection molding REVODE201 and Grade for sheeting REVODE101. In the meantime, products were sold in large scale to customers at home and abroad.
